The Brothel Tavern
About This Spot
Nestled in the gentle folds of Wisconsin’s countryside, The Brothel Tavern offers a refreshingly unpretentious pause in a journey through rolling hills and winding roads. Arriving here feels like stepping into a quieter rhythm, where the pace slows and the vibrant hum of rural life wraps around you. The bar’s weathered exterior and hand-painted signs hint at stories layered deep within its walls, inviting you to linger and listen.
This is a place where community isn’t an abstract concept but a living, breathing presence. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, marked by friendly banter and the occasional burst of laughter drifting across the wooden porch or from the cozy indoor nook filled with walls signed by generations of visitors. The connection to local life is palpable — whether it’s the spontaneous volleyball games outside in summer or a friendly round of chicken bingo, the experience extends beyond drinks to genuine shared moments.
Inside, the mix of old-world charm and playful modern touches create a well-balanced space. Digital games offer lighthearted distraction while the warmth of staff and locals make every guest feel like part of the ongoing story. The simple but satisfying food options complement the friendly pours, making it easy to settle in for a while.
More than just a roadside stop, The Brothel Tavern feels like a small, cherished crossroads — a place where travelers, locals, and stories converge under one roof, and where the genuine pulse of a close-knit community can still be felt with every visit.

Over the valleys and around some bends, you will see a strange car with chicken nesting boxes attached, and a wooden sign on a tree telling you that it is a bar. Pull in and check it out, cause the locals will weave you a story that you wouldn’t want to miss! The bar has such an interesting background with the original building being part of the new bar. There are flush toilets despite the look of the doors being from portable toilets. The bar is handicapped accessible and is clean and unique. They do serve frozen pizzas along with their cocktails, but we didn’t partake due to me and my gut. There are some gluten free chips along the wall and some candy. The Brothel Bar does serve White Claw and it was ice cold. They feature signature drinks monthly and carry a nice selection of beers. We wandered around and saw they have some amazing volleyball courts, and lots of camping areas. I asked what they do with that the chicken car. The locals told me they have fun things like “chicken poop bingo”. Sounds like an amazing place to come back to if you are looking for a good time.

Went there for a couple drinks. Beautiful drive to get there. Wonderful and friendly service. Made us feel like part of the community. They have a nice outside area with volleyball. Several digital games inside. Really a neat place.

This place is out in the country. A great place to stop if you're traveling from one bar to another. I believe they only make pizzas for food. They have volleyball tournaments, and you can even play some chicken bingo in the summer.

Pretty cool place in the middle of the hills with a country vibe and bar completely covered in patron autographs. A wide variety of bar shirts and sizes to choose from.

Good rural bar right here. Shocked that they had Johnny bootlegger. Something I have only seen out in North Carolina.

One of the best bars I've ever been to it's a must-see! Drinks are at a fair price and atmosphere is one of a kind.
